Ahi, ahi ahi, Professor Sartori...

This guy, a social scientist, was convicted to death. His last wish was that he be executed within 90 days, at 12 sharp, and by surprise. So, he reasoned, assume that D(90) is the day for the execution. At D(89) I know that I will get away, since the surprise condition can no longer be verified (sole execution slot means no surprise!). Reasoning backwards, by induction this must be true for every assumed day D(90)...D(0), so I can go to deathrow and enjoy my stay.

However, as it were, on day 4 they came to fetch him, and boy, WAS HE SURPRISED!
